What is the Threads Post Scraper?

The InsightSocial Threads Post Scraper is a free Chrome extension that exports posts, engagement metrics, media, and author details from Threads profiles, search results, and feeds — straight to CSV, Excel, or JSON. No Meta developer account, no API keys, no automation on Threads' side.

It works by reading what your own logged-in Threads session already sees on the page. When you open a profile or a search result, the extension captures each post as you scroll — text, images, videos, likes, comments, reposts, shares, views, community tags, and timestamps. Because everything runs inside your normal browser session, Threads sees the same activity it would if you were scrolling by hand.

Analysts use it to track engagement across profiles and communities, creators use it to reverse-engineer what performs in their niche, and brand teams use it to monitor mentions on Meta's fastest-growing text platform.

Who is it for?

  • Social media analysts tracking engagement trends and content performance across Threads
  • Content creators analyzing what wins in their niche to inform their own posting strategy
  • Brand managers monitoring brand mentions and competitor activity on Threads
  • Influencer marketers vetting creators by pulling a real sample of their recent posts
  • Community researchers studying how topics move through communities and search
  • Journalists and analysts tracking public conversation around a keyword or account over time

Key Benefits

  • Full engagement capture — likes, comments, reposts, shares, and views per post
  • Three surfaces supported — profiles, search results, and feed / community pages
  • Media URLs included — image and video links captured alongside text
  • Author details attached — display name, @handle, and verified status on every row
  • No API, no rate limits — runs in your normal browser, not Meta's Graph API
  • CSV / Excel / JSON export — feeds directly into Sheets, Notion, or an analysis notebook

How to Use the Threads Post Scraper

Step 1: Install the Extension

Add InsightSocial from the Chrome Web Store. The icon appears in your browser toolbar after install.

Step 2: Navigate to Threads

Open the Threads surface you want to scrape — a specific profile (threads.net/@username), a search-results page for a keyword or hashtag, or your home / community feed.

Step 3: Open the InsightSocial Sidebar

Click the InsightSocial icon. The sidebar opens on the right and detects which Threads surface you're on.

Step 4: Configure Your Scrape

Pick the scrape type (posts) and let the extension know how many you want. The sidebar shows the surface and a live post counter as it runs.

Step 5: Start Scraping

Click "Start Scraping" and let the extension scroll for you. It uses human-like scrolling patterns and captures each post from Threads' underlying responses as it loads.

Step 6: Export Your Results

Click "Export" and choose CSV (drops straight into Sheets or Excel), .xlsx (native Excel with formatting), or JSON (for scripts and BI). Every scrape also stays in the InsightSocial portal under your account history.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I extract from a Threads post?

Post text and post ID, author display name, @handle, and verified status, engagement counts (likes, comments, reposts, shares, views), the community or topic tag when present, attached media URLs, the post URL, and the timestamp. See the data-fields section on this page for the exact list.

Do I need to be logged into Threads?

Yes. The scraper reads what your own logged-in Threads session sees on the page. That mirrors normal browsing — Threads shows you the same posts whether the extension is running or not.

Which Threads surfaces are supported?

Profiles, search results, and feed / community pages. Point the browser at any of those, and the scraper picks up posts as they load. For a Twitter-style content-intelligence workflow across platforms, pair this with the Twitter Posts Scraper or the LinkedIn Posts Scraper.

Does this work on Meta's Graph API?

No. The extension runs on the page inside your browser — it never calls Meta's Graph API and never asks for developer credentials. That's why there are no rate-limit tiers or API costs to manage.

How many posts can I scrape per session?

The extension scrolls until it hits your target or the feed runs out — larger targets just mean more scrolling. Scraping and viewing results are unlimited on every plan; the monthly quota is export credits, one per exported row: 500 credits on the free plan, 10,000 on Pro Monthly ($9.99/mo), or the same 10,000 a month on Pro Yearly ($95.88/year — $7.99/mo). One session = unlimited posts within it, and a scrape you decide not to export costs nothing.

Is Threads scraping ethical?

Reading and exporting content that your own session can already see is a common, legitimate practice for analysts, researchers, and journalists. Always respect Threads' Terms of Service and applicable privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA), and never use scraped data for spam, harassment, or impersonation.

Where does my data live after the scrape?

Every session syncs to your private InsightSocial portal, tied to your account. You can search, re-open, and re-export past scrapes anytime. We don't sell or share user data, and we never see your Threads password — the scrape only ever happens between your browser and your own InsightSocial account.
