Questions people ask before installing
- Is InsightSocial free?
- Yes. The free plan has no time limit and needs no credit card: scraping is unlimited on all 6 platforms, and you can export 500 rows a month. Pro is $9.99 a month, or $7.99 a month billed yearly, for 10,000 rows. One-off credit packs start at $2.
- Will my social media account get banned?
- No tool can promise zero risk, but InsightSocial keeps it low. It reads pages the way you do, at a human pace, and collects what appears. It never posts, likes, follows or messages from your account, and it doesn’t hand your login to any server, which is the biggest risk with cloud scrapers.
- Where does the data I collect go?
- The rows you collect are saved to your private InsightSocial dashboard, so you can filter, export and share them later. Your social media login is not: the extension uses the session already in your browser, and your password and cookies are never sent to us. You can delete any run from your history.
- How is this different from Apify or PhantomBuster?
- Cloud scrapers run on their own servers, so they need your session cookies or a pool of proxies, and you wait for a job to finish. InsightSocial runs in your own Chrome: rows appear as the page loads, it reaches what your account can already see, and there is nothing to configure.
- What can I extract?
- Posts, comments and replies, profiles, followers and following lists, reactions, and hashtag and search results, across TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, YouTube, Reddit and Pinterest. Each row comes with its engagement numbers, author and timestamp.
- Can I get emails and phone numbers?
- Yes, when they are public. Profiles come with the website and bio links the account lists. On Pro you can open those links (Linktree, personal sites) from your results and pull out the emails and handles listed there.
- What counts as a credit?
- One credit is one exported row. Scraping and browsing your results are unlimited on every plan; credits are only spent when data leaves the product, as a download, a share link or a Google Sheets export. Each row is paid for once, so exporting it again is free, and the export menu shows the price before you click. Free includes 500 credits a month and Pro includes 10,000.
- Which export formats are supported?
- CSV, Excel and JSON downloads, an export straight into a new or existing Google Sheets tab, and share links anyone can open without an account.
- Do I have to watch the tab while it runs?
- No. Keep the tab open and work in other tabs: on every platform a run keeps going in the background (X search and hashtag pages, and some LinkedIn post pages, still pause until you come back). You can also schedule a page to run again every few hours, daily or weekly while Chrome is open.
- Do I need to code? Is there an API?
- You don’t need to code: open a page, choose what to collect and click Scrape. If you do write code, the InsightSocial API returns the same kinds of data from 22 platforms as JSON, and connects to Claude, ChatGPT and n8n. Your first 10 calls are free.
