How to Use Facebook Posts Scraper
Step 1: Install InsightSocial
Get the extension from the Chrome Web Store. The icon appears in your toolbar after install.
Step 2: Navigate to Your Source
Open any of these Facebook surfaces:
- News Feed — your personal home feed (
facebook.com) - Group feeds — public groups, plus private groups you're a member of
- Page timelines — any public Facebook business or creator page
- Profile timelines — public posts from any profile
(Single-post comment threads are handled by the Facebook Comments Scraper. Facebook Search results aren't currently supported.)
Step 3: Open the InsightSocial Sidebar
Click the InsightSocial icon. The sidebar auto-detects which source you're on and shows the matching source card.
Step 4: Configure Extraction
Pick how many posts you want:

On group sources you also get a sort selector — New posts (chronological), Recent activity, or Most relevant (Facebook's algorithmic sort).

What's the difference between this and the other Facebook scrapers?
Same engine — different framing. The Group, Page, and Profile scrapers are this one narrowed to a single source, with source-specific copy and FAQs. If you're working on one source, those pages are slightly more focused; if you're collecting across multiple sources, start here.

How many posts can I extract per session?
Up to 250 posts per session — presets are 25, 50, 100, or 250. Each session = one source on one Facebook surface. Scraping is unlimited; only the rows you export are metered, at one credit per row:

To go deeper into older posts, run multiple sessions on the same source — Facebook only loads so many posts per scroll session.
Can I filter posts by date?
Not as a built-in filter. The scraper grabs the most recent posts the source serves (up to your chosen count). After export, filter by the post_date column in your spreadsheet or BI tool — it's a clean ISO date, easy to range-filter.
What data is included in each post?
- Full post content (text)
- Post type — text, image, video, link, or carousel
- Author name and author profile URL
- Source label — group / page / profile / home
- Reaction count, comment count, share count
- Post date and direct post URL

Where is my scraped data stored?
Posts you scrape sync to your private InsightSocial account so you can re-open, search, and re-export them anytime from the portal. Only you can see what you've collected — we don't sell or share user data.
The scrape itself runs inside your own logged-in Facebook session in your browser. We never see your Facebook password and never call Facebook's API on your behalf.
Is the data structured or raw text?
Fully structured. Every field is its own column in CSV/Excel and its own key in JSON. The schema is consistent across sources, so a CSV from a group will union cleanly with a CSV from a page.
Can I extract posts from Facebook search results?
Not currently. Facebook Search is on the reserved list in the extension — the scraper deliberately doesn't run on /search/... URLs. Use a specific group, page, or profile instead.
