To scrape a LinkedIn profile, open linkedin.com/in/username in Chrome while logged in, click the InsightSocial extension, choose Profile and click Scrape. In a few seconds you get the name, headline, location, about, follower and connection counts, and the experience, education, skills and certifications shown on the profile, exported to Excel, CSV, JSON or Google Sheets. Contact details come only for your 1st-degree connections. Exports are free up to 500 rows a month.

What data can you extract?

The Profile export reads the profile page as it first loads. LinkedIn shows only the top few entries of each section there, so that is what you get; the full lists behind "Show all" are not fetched.

DataWhat it contains
IdentityName, headline, profile URL, profile picture, country and location
ReachConnection count, follower count
AboutThe profile summary
ExperienceTitle, company, employment type, dates and location for the entries shown on the profile
EducationSchool, degree and dates for the entries shown
SkillsThe skills listed on the profile (no endorsement counts)
Certifications and volunteeringName, issuer, dates, credential link; role, organization, cause
BadgesCreator, Top Voice, Premium and Influencer flags
Contact infoEmail, phone and address only if you are a 1st-degree connection; websites and other handles the person lists

The same profile page also offers Posts: that is a separate run that exports the person's posts (text, reactions, comments, reposts, date) instead of the profile.

Step-by-step: how to scrape a LinkedIn profile

Step 1: Add InsightSocial to Chrome

Install the free Chrome extension and pin its icon to the toolbar.

Step 2: Log in to LinkedIn

InsightSocial reads what your own logged-in session can see. Signed out, LinkedIn hides most of a profile.

Step 3: Open the profile

Go to the profile you want:

https://www.linkedin.com/in/username

Any profile you can open works: 1st-degree, 2nd-degree or out of network.

Step 4: Click Scrape

Click the InsightSocial icon. The side panel detects the profile. Choose Profile and click Scrape. The run takes a few seconds.

Step 5: Export

Open the results page and export to Excel, CSV, JSON or Google Sheets.

Tips

Search results and Sales Navigator pages can't be scraped

The extension doesn't read LinkedIn search results or Sales Navigator. Open each profile you shortlisted and run it, or use the LinkedIn API, whose people search takes keyword, title, company and location filters.

To find people, start from a post

The fastest way to a list of relevant people is a post in your field. The LinkedIn Post Likers Scraper exports everyone who reacted to a post, with name, headline, profile URL and connection degree. Then open the profiles that matter.

Keep data fresh

People change jobs. Re-run the profiles you rely on every few months.

LinkedIn's User Agreement restricts automated collection, and using the extension means using your own account under those terms. Keep runs small and focused, don't use the data for spam, and handle personal data the way GDPR and similar laws require. To read many profiles from a server without your account, use the LinkedIn API instead.

FAQ

Can I scrape emails from LinkedIn profiles? Only from your 1st-degree connections. LinkedIn shows email, phone and address in Contact info to connections only, so for everyone else the export has no email. Websites and other handles a person lists publicly are included.

Can I export LinkedIn search results? No. LinkedIn search and Sales Navigator pages can't be scraped with the extension. Open each profile, or use the people search in the LinkedIn API.

Do I get the full work history? You get the experience, education and skills entries shown on the profile as it loads. LinkedIn truncates long lists there, and the full lists behind "Show all" are not fetched.

Can I scrape many profiles at once? Not in one extension run: the Profile export reads one profile per run. For hundreds of profiles, the LinkedIn API reads profiles from your server, priced per call.

Is it allowed? Reading public profile data is not a crime in the US after hiQ v. LinkedIn, but LinkedIn's User Agreement bans automated collection, and hiQ was found to have broken it. Your account is the one at risk, so scrape what you need, at a normal pace.
