What is the Twitter Followers Scraper?
The InsightSocial Twitter Followers Scraper is a free Chrome extension that exports the follower list — or following list — of any public Twitter/X account to CSV, Excel, or JSON. Each row is one account: username, display name, bio, follower count, verification status, and profile URL. No API key, no developer account, no code.
It works through your own logged-in Twitter/X session. You open a profile, pick Followers or Following in the sidebar, and the extension navigates to the right list page and scrolls it the way a person would, capturing accounts as X loads them. It never asks for your credentials, never calls X's API on your behalf, and sees exactly what your session sees — protected accounts' follower lists stay off-limits unless you're an approved follower.
An audience is a dataset. Who follows a competitor tells you who their message reaches; who an industry leader follows tells you who they trust. Exported as a spreadsheet, a follower list becomes something you can filter by bio keywords, sort by follower count, and compare across accounts — analysis the X interface simply doesn't offer.
Who is it for?
- Competitive analysts mapping overlap and differences between competitor follower bases
- Market researchers analyzing audience composition, interests, and bio patterns
- Recruiters studying who follows industry leaders to understand a talent pool
- Brand analysts identifying advocates and detractors active around a brand
- Academic researchers studying network dynamics and influence patterns at scale
- Agencies comparing audience overlap across clients and competitors
Key Benefits
- Followers and following — extract either list from any public account
- Per-account profile data — bio, follower count, and verification alongside each name
- Auto-navigation — start from the profile page; the extension opens the right list itself
- Scales to full lists — pick a preset (100 / 500 / 1000 / 5000) or Max for the whole list
- Analysis-ready export — CSV for BI tools and notebooks, .xlsx for Excel, JSON for scripts
- Private dashboard — results sync to your own portal for browsing and re-export anytime
How to Use the Twitter Followers Scraper
Step 1: Install the Extension
Add InsightSocial from the Chrome Web Store. The icon appears in your browser toolbar.
Step 2: Open Any Profile
Go to any public Twitter/X profile (x.com/username). You don't need to click into the followers list yourself.
Step 3: Pick Followers or Following
Open the InsightSocial sidebar and select the Followers or Following scrape type. The extension navigates to the corresponding list page automatically so the right data loads.
Step 4: Set an Extraction Limit
Choose how many accounts to collect — 100, 500, 1000, 5000, or Max for the entire list. Larger targets on big accounts take longer because X rate-limits how fast the list loads.
Step 5: Start Scraping
Click "Start Scraping" and watch accounts stream into the live preview with their bios and counts as the list scrolls.
Step 6: Export for Analysis
Click "Export" and pick CSV, .xlsx, or JSON. The session also syncs to your private InsightSocial portal, so the list stays browsable and re-exportable later.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I get for each follower?
Username, display name, bio, follower count, verification status, and the direct profile URL. That's enough to segment an audience meaningfully — filter bios for job titles or keywords, sort by follower count to find the influential accounts inside someone else's audience, or isolate verified accounts.
Can I scrape the followers of any account?
Any public account, yes. Protected accounts hide their follower lists from non-followers — if X doesn't show your session the list, the scraper can't see it either. It never bypasses X's privacy controls.
What's the difference between scraping followers and following?
Followers answer "who listens to this account" — audience composition, reach, potential customers. Following answers "who this account listens to" — their sources, peers, and interests. Both scrape types produce the same per-account columns, so you can run each and compare in one spreadsheet.
How do I find audience overlap between two competitors?
Scrape each competitor's followers as separate sessions, export both to CSV, and match on username (a VLOOKUP or a pandas merge). Accounts in both lists are the contested audience; accounts in only one show where each competitor's reach is unique. Pair this with the Twitter Profile Scraper to enrich the interesting names with full profile data.
How long does a large follower list take?
X rate-limits how quickly follower lists load, so a Max run on an account with hundreds of thousands of followers can take a while — the extension keeps scrolling patiently rather than hammering the page. For most research, a few thousand followers is a representative sample and finishes much faster.
How many sessions does this use?
One list scrape = one session, regardless of how many accounts it collects, and scraping is unlimited on every plan — credits go only on exported rows, one each. The Free plan includes 500 export credits per month; Pro Monthly is 10,000 for $9.99/mo; Pro Yearly is the same 10,000 a month for $95.88/year ($7.99/mo). Other Twitter/X scrapers draw from the same pool.
Is exporting follower lists allowed?
Follower lists on public accounts are publicly visible information, and recording what your own session displays for research or competitive analysis is a common, legitimate practice. Review X's Terms of Service for your use case, comply with GDPR/CCPA where they apply, and never use exported lists for spam, mass DMs, or harassment.
