Do I need a TikTok developer account?

No. There is no TikTok app, OAuth flow or app review. One InsightSocial API key works for this endpoint and every other platform, and your first 10 calls priced at 100 credits or less are free.

What does one call return?

One call returns the video in the data object of the standard response envelope. Fields the platform did not provide are listed in unavailable, so a null there means unknown, not zero.

What happens if the account is private or nothing is found?

You get an error or an empty result, and it costs 0 credits. The API reads public TikTok data only, so private accounts and deleted content come back as not found rather than as partial data.

When to use it

Use it when you already have a video URL and want that single video's numbers, rather than a list from profile/videos or search.

Parameters

Query parameters for GET /v1/tiktok/post. Send your key in the x-api-key header.

url	Yes	Full URL of the TikTok video
region	No	Two-letter country code for the proxy region (US, GB, FR, PH). The primary source does not take a region, so it is honoured only when a fallback source serves the request; a region-locked video (commonly from the Philippines) that fails on the primary is retried on the fallback with this value.
trim	No	Accepted for compatibility; the response is already the canonical shape, so this flag has no effect.
download_media	No	Set to true to also download the video/images and get back durable hosted media URLs under data.post.ext.download_media_urls ([{ post_id, cdn_url, type, cached }]). Use these for archiving; the raw media_urls are short-lived signed CDN links that expire. Adds a few seconds of latency while the media is fetched.
