TikTok has no button to export a video's comments, so you need a tool: for one video, free web tools work without installing anything (InsightSocial's free TikTok Comment Exporter returns the first 50 comments as a CSV, TokSift says the first 2,000 comments of any video are free, ExportComments returns up to 100 per video free), while the InsightSocial Chrome extension exports 50, 100 or 250 top-level comments plus all their replies to Excel or CSV, free up to 500 exported rows a month. For many videos at once, Apify's TikTok Comments Scraper costs from $0.50 per 1,000 comments. Expect fewer comments than the count TikTok displays: deleted and filtered comments are counted but not served.

Checked November 2026. We make InsightSocial, so we are not neutral. This guide includes the free single-purpose exporters and the cloud tools that beat us for bulk work. Their prices and limits are what their own sites, Apify listings and Chrome Web Store listings said when we checked in November 2026; we did not run them.

Can you export TikTok comments natively?

No. TikTok shows comments in the app and on tiktok.com, but nothing on a video downloads them, for your own videos or anyone else's. TikTok's account data download is about your own account, not a video's comment section.

TikTok's Research API returns comments, 100 per request, but only to approved researchers: academic institutions in the US, EEA, UK, Canada or Switzerland, EU non-profit researchers, and Brazilian groups studying youth safety. Companies cannot apply.

Everyone else uses a third-party tool. Comments on public videos are visible to anyone, so a tool can read them the way your browser does.

What data a TikTok comments export includes

A good export gives you one row per comment, and one per reply, with:

  • Comment text, emojis kept
  • Commenter username, display name and profile link
  • Likes on the comment
  • Reply count, and whether the row is itself a reply
  • Date the comment was posted
  • Video URL, so exports from several videos can be stacked in one sheet

Some tools add a parent comment ID, the commenter's region, a pinned flag or a "liked by creator" flag. No tool exports commenters' emails or phone numbers; they are not public.

What the rows look like

Illustrative rows: the shape of an export, with made-up names and text, not real commenters.

Keep the Is reply column. Without it, a sentiment average or a "top comments" list mixes replies in with the comments they answer.

How many comments will you actually get?

Fewer than the number on the video. TikTok's displayed count includes comments it no longer serves: deleted comments, comments from suspended accounts and spam-filtered ones. Several tools we checked warn about this in their own words; Apify's comments scraper says "the actual number of scraped comments may differ".

Replies matter just as much. On a busy video, a large share of the conversation sits in reply threads. In a recorded InsightSocial run, 250 top-level comments on a National Geographic video came with 244 replies, 494 rows in 31 seconds. A tool that exports only top-level comments gives you about half the conversation on a video like that.

So pick tools by two numbers: how many top-level comments you need, and whether replies come along.

Method 1: Free web tools for one video

Paste a video link, get a file. Good for one video, once.

  • InsightSocial's free TikTok Comment Exporter. No sign-up and no TikTok login. It reads the first page of the comment section, up to 50 comments, and shows username, display name, comment, likes, reply count, date (UTC), verified badge and comment ID, with a CSV download. Limits: 5 videos an hour, 15 a day; replies are counted but not exported.
  • TokSift needs no login. It says "the first 2,000 comments of any video are free, for everyone", exports CSV or Excel, and returns replies with a parent comment ID. Paid plans, which list replies and AI analysis, are $9.99, $14.99 and $19.99 a month for 500,000, 1,000,000 and 3,000,000 credits; one credit is one exported comment.
  • ExportComments exports up to 100 comments per video free, without signing up. Paid plans raise that to 5,000 (Personal), 50,000 (Premium) or 250,000 (Business) per video, and replies carry a reply_to column with the parent's handle. Excel and CSV; JSON on Business. See our ExportComments alternatives.
  • TokViewr gives new accounts 100 export rows, valid 30 days, after Google sign-in. Packs are one-time: $19.99 for 25,000 rows, $29.99 for 60,000, $59.99 for 200,000, and rows never expire. Up to 5,000 rows per file; replies are optional and count as rows.
  • TKExport offers one free export of up to 100 comments after sign-in (CSV), then Starter at $4.99 for 5,000 comment credits and Research at $12.99 for 20,000, each valid 30 days. Its pricing page says replies "are not included at launch". It adds a sentiment and topics report.

Method 2: Cloud scrapers, APIs and code for many videos

For dozens of videos, a schedule or a pipeline:

  • Apify's TikTok Comments Scraper (by clockworks, about 6,700 monthly users) takes video URLs or usernames and returns comments from $0.50 per 1,000, with maxRepliesPerComment for replies. Its page notes reply extraction "is currently not guaranteed". Apify's free plan includes $5 of usage a month.
  • APIs. Our TikTok comments API returns a page of comments per call with a cursor, and a replies call expands one thread. EnsembleData charges 1 unit per 30 comments; ScrapeCreators has comments and comment-replies endpoints. Compared in best TikTok data APIs in 2026.
  • Open source. davidteather/TikTok-Api (Python, MIT licence, about 6,700 GitHub stars) ships a comment example. It sees what a logged-out visitor sees and may need proxies.

Method 3: A Chrome extension for full threads

If you want every reply under the comments you export, in Excel, use InsightSocial's TikTok Comments Scraper:

  1. Install InsightSocial from the Chrome Web Store and sign in. It is free and asks for no card.
  2. Open the video on tiktok.com, so its comments are on screen.
  3. Click the InsightSocial icon. The sidebar detects the video and offers Video and Comments.
  4. Pick 50, 100 or 250 comments and click Scrape. That number counts top-level comments; their replies come along on top, so a 250 run on a busy video returns more than 250 rows.
  5. Watch the preview fill as comments and their replies are collected.
  6. Export as CSV, Excel or JSON, or send the rows to Google Sheets.

Each row carries the parent video URL, so run one session per video and stack the files. To find one user's comments, export the videos where they comment and filter the username column; TikTok has no list of every comment one account has left.

What it costs: scraping and viewing results are free on every plan; exporting uses one credit per row. Free includes 500 rows a month, Pro $9.99 a month (or $7.99 billed yearly) includes 10,000, and one-time packs start at 1,000 rows for $5. Re-exporting a row you already exported is free.

What it does not do: take a list of video URLs. It reads one video per run, so for thousands of comments across many videos, use Method 2.

Other comment extensions exist. TTCommentExporter (about 10,000 users) exports comments with replies to CSV or Excel, free up to 200; TKCommentExport (about 2,000 users) exports to CSV, JSON or Excel.

Exporting to Excel, CSV or Google Sheets

  • Excel (.xlsx) is the safest choice: accents, emoji and long IDs survive.
  • CSV in Excel: if comments show as é or Γ°ΕΈΛœβ€š, the file was read in the wrong encoding. Open Excel, go to Data > From Text/CSV, choose UTF-8 (65001), then Load. InsightSocial's CSVs, from both the extension and the free tool, start with a UTF-8 marker so Excel usually picks this up by itself.
  • Long IDs: comment and user IDs are 19 digits. Excel keeps 15, so it turns them into 7.43E+18 and loses digits. Import those columns as Text.
  • Formula-looking comments: a comment that starts with = or + can run as a formula in Excel. Good exporters prefix it so it stays text; ours do.
  • Dates: most tools export UTC. Convert to your time zone before charting comments by hour.
  • Google Sheets: File > Import handles UTF-8 CSVs correctly; InsightSocial can also sync a run straight to a sheet.

Troubleshooting

The export has fewer comments than the video shows. Normal: deleted, filtered and suspended-account comments are counted but not served. Compare against the tool's own count, not TikTok's.

No replies in the file. The tool may export top-level comments only (TKExport today, and our free web tool), or replies may be a setting you need to switch on (TokSift, TokViewr, Apify).

Emoji and accents are garbled. Re-open the CSV through Data > From Text/CSV with UTF-8, or export .xlsx instead.

IDs end in 000. Excel rounded them. Re-import the column as Text.

Nothing loads for a video. Private videos and videos with comments turned off have nothing to export.

FAQ

How do I export TikTok comments to Excel? Use a tool, because TikTok has no export button. Paste the video link into a free web exporter for a quick file, or open the video with the InsightSocial Chrome extension, pick 50, 100 or 250 comments and export to Excel with replies included.

Can I export TikTok comments for free? Yes. InsightSocial's free TikTok Comment Exporter returns the first 50 comments as a CSV with no sign-up, ExportComments returns up to 100 per video free, and TokSift says the first 2,000 comments of any video are free. The InsightSocial extension exports up to 500 rows a month free, replies included.

How do I export TikTok comments to CSV? The same tools all export CSV. If accents or emoji look wrong in Excel, open the file through Data > From Text/CSV and choose UTF-8.

Can I export replies to TikTok comments? Yes, with a tool that reads reply threads: the InsightSocial extension, TokSift (with parent comment IDs), ExportComments, TokViewr and Apify's comments scraper. Keep the Is reply or parent ID column so you can separate replies from comments.

Why are there fewer comments in my export than on the video? TikTok's count includes deleted comments, comments from suspended accounts and spam-filtered ones that it no longer serves, so every tool returns fewer.

Can I export comments from many TikTok videos at once? With Apify's TikTok Comments Scraper or an API, yes. With a browser extension, run one video at a time and stack the files; each row carries its video URL.

Can I export the comments on my own TikTok videos? The same tools work on your own videos. TikTok itself has no comment export for creators.
