Does TikTok have an API?
Yes, several. The Display API and Content Posting API work for TikTok users who authorize your app, the Research API (public data) is for approved non-commercial researchers only, and the Commercial Content API covers ads.
To read public TikTok data you do not own, a public-data API is the usual route. InsightSocial has 37 TikTok endpoints from 10 credits a call, with one key and no app review.
Official documentation checked 2026-10-05.
The official TikTok APIs
| API | What it covers | Who can get it | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display API | The authorizing user's basic profile and their own public videos. | A registered developer app; the user grants the user.info.basic and video.list scopes. | Not published |
| Research API | Public account data (profiles, follower and following lists, liked and reposted videos) and video metadata. | Qualified academic and not-for-profit researchers in listed regions, after a proposal and approval (about 4 weeks). Not open to commercial users. | Not published |
| Commercial Content API | Public data on paid ads and advertisers: dates, targeting and reach. EU ads only for now. | Anyone can apply with a developer account and an application form. | Not published |
