InsightSocial vs ExportComments
ExportComments is a cloud web app: paste a post URL, get a file, capped per export by your plan. InsightSocial is a Chrome extension that collects comment sections in your own browser for free and meters only the rows you export.
The short answer
ExportComments is a cloud web app with 20+ platforms: paste a post URL and download the comments. Its price is a cap per export: free returns up to 100 results per export (50 exports a month), Personal is $30 once for 3 days at up to 5,000, Premium $50 a month at up to 50,000, and Business $220 a month at up to 250,000 with API access (prices raised on 1 November 2026). InsightSocial is a Chrome extension: scraping is free, and you pay per exported row, 500 a month free and 10,000 on Pro for $9.99.
The two fit different jobs. ExportComments wins on reach and convenience: more platforms, including chat apps, review sites and video sites InsightSocial does not cover, nothing to install, scheduled exports in the cloud, and per-export caps that go far past a browser run on a huge thread. InsightSocial wins when comment export is regular work on TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Reddit or Pinterest: you see the whole run in your dashboard before spending anything, a subreddit run collects posts and every comment under them in one file, replies keep their parent, and a row you already exported is free to export again. For code, its API covers 22 platforms on the same credit balance, from the free plan up, where ExportComments keeps its API for Business.
InsightSocial vs ExportComments, feature by feature
A green check marks where each tool genuinely wins. Both columns have them.

| Nothing to install | Needs the extension (a free paste-a-link tool covers one TikTok video's first 50 comments) | Yes, works from any browser |
| What you pay for | Rows you export, from a monthly allowance; scraping and browsing results are free | A plan that caps results per export; paid plans allow unlimited exports under that cap |
| Free tier | 500 exported rows a month, any thread | Up to 100 results per export, 50 exports a month, files kept 1 day |
| One very large thread | Stops at the count you pick: up to 250 top-level comments plus replies on TikTok, 500 comments on YouTube, 500 replies on X | Up to 5,000 per export on Personal, 50,000 on Premium, 250,000 on Business |
| Platforms | 6 social platforms (TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest) plus 12 review and discussion sites | 20+ platforms and 100+ exporters, including Discord, Twitch, Bluesky, VK, Bilibili, Yelp, Tripadvisor and Airbnb |
| Posts and their comments in one run | Yes on a subreddit: pick 25, 50 or 100 posts and get every comment and reply under them in one file | Workflows chain exports (2 on Premium, 10 on Business) |
| Reply structure | Each reply is its own row with the id of the comment it answers | Not checked |
| Scheduled exports | Extension schedules fire from Chrome, so Chrome must be open | In the cloud on Premium and Business, daily, weekly or hourly on Business |
| How long results stay | In your dashboard until you delete the run; a row you already exported is free to export again | Files kept 1 day on free, 3 days on Personal, 5 days on Premium and Business |
| API | One key for 22 platforms, a published price per call, failed calls free, on the same balance from the free plan | Business plan ($220 a month) only |
| Where requests come from | Your own browser and IP, at reading pace | Their cloud; their FAQ suggests a proxy or VPN when a site objects to the location change |

ExportComments prices are from its own pricing data, read on 7 November 2026. They went up on 1 November 2026: before that, Personal was $23, Premium $45 a month and Business $199 a month, which is what our October guides quoted. Its pricing page says existing subscribers keep their price while they stay on the same plan, and VAT may be added for consumers in the EU. The two models count different things. ExportComments caps results per export, so its free tier can return up to 5,000 results a month if you export 50 small comment sections, more than InsightSocial's free 500 rows; a single thread with 3,000 comments needs its Personal pass or higher. InsightSocial counts rows exported per month regardless of thread size: Pro is $9.99 for 10,000, Studio $49 for 150,000, scraping and reading results cost nothing, and a row you already exported is free to export again. One-time packs start at 1,000 rows for $5.
Check ExportComments’s current pricingA cap per export versus rows per month
ExportComments sells the size of each export. The free tier stops at 100 results per link; Personal, Premium and Business raise that to 5,000, 50,000 and 250,000. If a post has more comments than your plan allows, the rest do not come back. InsightSocial sells rows out of the dashboard instead. A run collects up to the count you pick, you see every row before you export, and you spend credits only on what you take out.
- Many small comment sections, occasionally: ExportComments' free tier (50 exports of up to 100 results) goes further than 500 rows
- A short burst of work: Personal at $30 for 3 days of unlimited exports is a fair deal
- Regular exports from TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn or Reddit: Pro at $9.99 for 10,000 rows a month costs less than Premium's $50
- One huge viral post, complete: ExportComments Premium or Business reaches further than a browser run
Paste a link versus your own browser
ExportComments runs every job in its cloud, which is why it needs nothing installed and why it can reach so many platforms. The cost is that each export is a request from their servers, and its own FAQ suggests a proxy or VPN when a site objects to the location change. InsightSocial reads what your signed-in browser already loads, at reading pace, from your own IP. That keeps login-only pages in reach and needs no proxy, but Chrome has to be open while a run works.
- TikTok: 50, 100 or 250 top-level comments per run, replies on top
- YouTube: 100, 250 or 500 comments per run, replies included, keeps going in a background tab
- X: 50, 100 or 500 replies per tweet
- LinkedIn: 50, 100 or 500 top-level comments per post, replies on top
- Reddit: a subreddit's posts and every comment under them in one file
What InsightSocial does not do
To save you a trial: the extension covers TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit and Pinterest, plus 12 review and discussion sites. It does not export Discord or Twitch chat, Yelp, Tripadvisor, Airbnb, Vimeo or the other platforms ExportComments lists, and it has no web app that takes a pasted link apart from the free TikTok Comment Exporter tool. Runs stop at the count you pick rather than at a plan cap, so the very largest comment sections come back as a large sample. Extension schedules need Chrome open.
When ExportComments is the better choice
ExportComments covers more ground with less setup, and for several jobs it is the right tool. Choose it when:
- You need a platform or site InsightSocial does not cover: Discord, Twitch chat, VK, Bilibili, Vimeo, Yelp, Tripadvisor, Airbnb and other platforms
- You want to paste a URL into a website and install nothing
- You need one enormous thread complete: up to 50,000 results per export on Premium and 250,000 on Business
- You want exports to run on a schedule in the cloud with your computer off
- You export many small comment sections now and then: 50 free exports a month of up to 100 results each
- You have a one-off burst of work: Personal is $30 for 3 days with no subscription
Why teams switch from ExportComments
What you get when the scrape runs in your own browser
No cap per thread on price
Scraping is free. You pay per exported row: 500 a month free, Pro $9.99 for 10,000.
See it before you pay
Every run lands in your dashboard first, so you know the comment count before you export anything.
Posts and comments together
On a subreddit, one run collects the posts and every comment and reply under them, in one file.
CSV, Excel, JSON or Sheets
Replies keep the id of the comment they answer, so you can rebuild each conversation.
Your own session
The extension reads what your browser already loads. No password shared, no proxy to buy.
An API when you need one
One key for 22 platforms on the same credit balance, with failed calls free.

For TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Reddit and Pinterest, InsightSocial's free plan scrapes without limit and exports 500 rows a month, with replies kept as their own rows. For one TikTok video's first 50 comments with nothing to install, its free TikTok Comment Exporter works from a pasted link. If you export many small comment sections, ExportComments' own free tier (50 exports of up to 100 results) may go further.
Usually the plan cap: each export stops at 100 results on the free tier, 5,000 on Personal, 50,000 on Premium and 250,000 on Business. Platforms also hide some comments, so no tool matches the on-screen count exactly. In InsightSocial a run stops at the count you pick (up to 500 on YouTube and X, 250 top-level comments plus replies on TikTok).
On Reddit, yes: a subreddit run in Posts and Comments mode collects 25, 50 or 100 posts and every comment under them in one file. On TikTok, YouTube, X and LinkedIn it is one post per run, and each export carries the post URL so you can stack several files. ExportComments chains exports with workflows on Premium and Business.
No. The extension covers TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit and Pinterest, plus 12 review and discussion sites. ExportComments lists 20+ platforms, including Discord, Twitch, VK, Bilibili, Yelp, Tripadvisor and Airbnb, and other platforms InsightSocial does not support. InsightSocial's API reaches 22 platforms, including Bluesky, Twitch and Telegram, for developers.
Yes, on every plan. One API key covers 22 platforms, every endpoint has a published price, calls that fail or find nothing are free, and the first 10 calls are free. ExportComments includes API access on its Business plan at $220 a month.
