Google Play Review Scraper

InsightSocial's Google Play Review Scraper is a free Chrome extension that exports an app's Google Play reviews to Excel, CSV, JSON or Google Sheets, newest first. Each row holds the stars, the review text, the reviewer, the date, helpful votes and the app version it was written on, with the developer's reply on its own row. Open the app's page and click Scrape.

How it works

From install to file in four steps.

  1. 01

    Add it to Chrome

Install InsightSocial from the Chrome Web Store. It is free and asks for no card.

  2. 02

    Pin the icon

Click the puzzle piece in Chrome's toolbar and pin InsightSocial. That icon opens the side panel.

  3. 03

    Open the app, click Scrape

Open the app's page on play.google.com. Allow Google Play the first time Chrome asks, then click Scrape.

  4. 04

    Export

Download Excel, CSV or JSON, or send the rows to Google Sheets. Every run stays in your account to re-open later.

What you get

One row per review, newest first: the stars, the full text, the reviewer's name, the date, how many people gave it a thumbs up, and the version of the app it was written on. When the developer answered, the reply is its own row directly under that review. Each run also records the app's name, developer, average rating, rating count, category, content rating and price.

It works on any app's page on Google Play (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=…) and collects up to the 10,000 newest reviews per run. Google Play hands out reviews in the language the store is shown in, so one run gives you one language; switch the store's language and run again for another.

The version column is the one to start with: filter the one-star reviews by version and you can see whether complaints began with a particular release. The same app on iPhone is on the App Store Review Scraper, game reviews on the Steam Review Scraper, and every site is on the review scraper hub.

Google Play review scraper vs other ways to get Google Play reviews

Google Play has no export button for anyone else's app, and Google's own routes cover only apps you publish:

For your own app's full history, the Play Console download is the complete record, and for many apps on a schedule a cloud service is the better fit. For a competitor's app, the extension needs no developer account and keeps the app version on every review, so you can see which release started the complaints.
