To download Amazon reviews to Excel, sign in to Amazon first and use an exporter that pages through the product's review pages by star rating and sort order: signed out, Amazon now shows only the dozen or so reviews on the product page, and signed in it serves at most 10 pages of 10 reviews per sort and star filter. The InsightSocial Chrome extension does this for the product you open, across 20 Amazon storefronts, collecting up to about 1,200 reviews per product (before duplicates are removed) with the verified-purchase flag, helpful votes and variant, exported to CSV, Excel, JSON or Google Sheets and free up to 500 rows a month.

Why most Amazon review exporters return 13 reviews now

If an Amazon review tool used to give you hundreds of reviews and now gives you about a dozen, Amazon changed, not the tool. Amazon now shows its full review pages (/product-reviews/…) only to signed-in shoppers. A signed-out visitor sees the handful of reviews on the product page itself: in our own runs in October 2026, 13 on a typical product, and on amazon.com sometimes none at all. People started reporting the change in 2024, in threads such as r/learnpython's "Scrape Amazon Reviews".

Two consequences:

  1. Sign in before you export. Any tool that reads Amazon from your browser needs your Amazon session to see more than the product page. A cloud tool needs its own signed-in sessions or a reviews data source.
  2. Even signed in, there are ceilings. Amazon serves at most 10 pages of 10 reviews for each sort order and star filter. A tool that reads every star rating (1 to 5) under both "Top reviews" and "Most recent" can reach far more than 100, but not an unlimited number on a product with 40,000 reviews.

Amazon may also stop showing reviews to an account that reads a lot of pages, with a notice asking you to verify the account. A careful tool stops at that notice and keeps what it collected.

What an Amazon reviews export includes

One row per review, with:

  • Rating, 1 to 5 stars, read correctly on every storefront ("5,0 von 5 Sternen" becomes 5)
  • Review title and text
  • Reviewer name
  • Date and the country the review was written in ("Reviewed in Germany on 3 May 2026")
  • Verified Purchase flag
  • Helpful votes
  • Variant (size, colour, style) when Amazon shows it
  • Permalink to the review
  • The product's title, brand, average rating and rating count

When Amazon shows a review translated, a good exporter keeps the original text too. Amazon reviews have no seller-reply rows: unlike Trustpilot or Google, sellers do not reply publicly under each review.

What the rows look like

Illustrative rows: the shape of an export, with made-up names and text, not real reviewers.

Can you export Amazon reviews directly?

No. Amazon's product and review pages have no export button, so every method below reads the review pages for you, either in your own browser or from a cloud service. Competitor research is the most common reason to export Amazon reviews, and it is also the case no first-party tool covers.

Method 1: A Chrome extension (any product you open)

Browser extensions read Amazon with your own signed-in session, which is why they still work after the login change. The Chrome Web Store has many single-site Amazon exporters (search "Amazon review exporter"), usually with a free tier that caps reviews per click and a paid tier: amazonreviews.cc's Pro, for example, is $9.99 a month for 100 reviews per click.

Here is how it works with InsightSocial's Amazon Review Scraper:

  1. Install InsightSocial from the Chrome Web Store and sign in with Google.
  2. Sign in to Amazon in the same browser, then open the product: any /dp/… page, or its /product-reviews/… page.
  3. Allow that Amazon storefront once. Chrome asks you to let InsightSocial read it the first time; it asks for that one storefront, only when you use it.
  4. Click Scrape. The extension reads the product page, then the review pages: two unfiltered views (top and most recent), then each star rating from 1 to 5 under both sorts, up to 10 pages each. It pauses between pages, removes duplicates, and keeps going if you switch to another tab.
  5. Export from your dashboard to CSV, Excel, JSON or Google Sheets.

Storefronts: amazon.com, .co.uk, .ca, .de, .fr, .it, .es, .nl, .se, .pl, .com.tr, .ae, .sa, .eg, .in, .co.jp, .com.au, .sg, .com.br and .com.mx. Dates, ratings and helpful counts are read in each storefront's own language.

How many reviews: up to about 1,200 per product before duplicates are removed (12 views of up to 100 reviews), within a 6-minute run. The panel tells you when Amazon's per-filter ceiling cut a view short ("collected X of Y written reviews"), and stops cleanly if Amazon shows the review-access notice.

What it costs: scraping and reading results in the dashboard are free on every plan; exporting uses one credit per row. Free includes 500 a month, Pro $9.99 a month (or $7.99 billed yearly) includes 10,000, Studio $49 includes 150,000, and one-time packs run from 250 rows for $2 to 25,000 for $39. A row you already exported is free to export again. Ten competitor products at about 800 reviews each is 8,000 rows: one month of Pro.

What it does not do: one product per run, no list of ASINs, no review images or videos.

Method 2: Cloud scrapers and APIs (many products, pipelines)

For hundreds of ASINs, scheduled runs or an API, use a cloud service:

  • Apify actors such as junglee's Amazon Reviews Scraper (about 2,200 users in the last 30 days; $6 per 1,000 reviews on Apify's free plan, down to $1 on its top tier) and Axesso's ($0.90 per 1,000), which take lists of products (checked October 2026).
  • Bright Data sells an Amazon reviews scraper API: 5,000 records a month free, then $1.50 per 1,000 records pay as you go (checked October 2026).
  • Outscraper lists Amazon reviews free for the first 500 a month, then $2 per 1,000 up to 5,000 and $1 per 1,000 after (its pricing page as archived in June 2026).

They cost more per review than a browser extension at small volumes, but they take lists of products and run without your browser open.

Method 3: Write your own script

Python tutorials for scraping Amazon reviews with requests and BeautifulSoup still circulate, but most predate the login change: run signed out, they return the product page's few reviews or a captcha. A script now needs a signed-in session, careful pacing and captcha handling, which is why most people who need more than a few products use a tool.

Export formats: Excel, CSV, Google Sheets

  • Excel (.xlsx): dates stay dates and non-English text stays intact. The best choice for a one-off analysis.
  • CSV: universal. Open it in Excel through Data > From Text/CSV with UTF-8 selected, or German umlauts and Japanese text will break.
  • Google Sheets: InsightSocial syncs a run straight to a sheet, handy for sharing with a sourcing team or agency.
  • JSON: for scripts, databases and LLM pipelines.

Working with a large Amazon review dataset

  • Filter to verified purchases for product-quality questions; keep the rest for marketing language.
  • Group by variant. Complaints often belong to one size or colour.
  • Read the 1- to 3-star reviews in full. That is where the defects, sizing problems and delivery issues are.
  • Use the country column when a product sells on several storefronts; expectations differ by market.
  • Compare your export with the rating count. Amazon's rating count includes star-only ratings, which have no review text, so your export will always have fewer rows than the number on the page.

Troubleshooting

Only about 13 reviews came back. You are signed out of Amazon in that browser, or Amazon is limiting your account. Sign in and run it again.

"Amazon is limiting review access for this account". Amazon shows a button on its reviews page to verify the account. Once access is restored, run it again; the rows you already have stay in your dashboard.

A captcha appeared. Reload the product page, solve it, then start again.

Fewer reviews than the product's ratings count. Most Amazon ratings are star-only and have no text; the count on the page includes them.

FAQ
